[A wild pikaboss appears]

So I saw Beowulf last night. It left me feeling awkward. Parts were jawesome in a "I can't believe that just fucking happened" way. And then other parts were just so stupid my friend's-brother's Gears of War FanFics look genius in comparison.

Heres some short complaints.

Why was Grendel a redneck? He shoulda looked more like this. (see how clever I can be?)

What was with the whole diddling Grendel's mom thing? That wasn't in the book.

Why if he was fighting naked did they strategically place things over his dong? If I'm adult enough to have to see his ass while he jumps all over the place lets see that shrunken little cg pecker. Go on Hollywood, I dare you.

And for today's comic, sometimes I swear to god I hear the Final Fantasy fight song when I'm talking to my boss, and as soon as he walks away the fanfare plays. Duh duh duh duh duh duh-duh-duh-duh! (wow, I remember her looking different)

[Mass Effect: Way Better Than Titan AE]

So I've put about 9 hours in on Mass Effect so far. And wowsers, it's good. Anyone who enjoyed KOTOR, or any of Bioware's previous titles will feel at home after about 30 minutes of play, although the combat is even a bit less RPG than Jade Empire (Bioware has been moving in that direction it seems). Especially if you're a scifi nerd, there's a lot to take in and get excited about here. Of course many of the technical issues reported in reviews I also noticed: graphical pop-in, problems with voice sync, game crashes (well just once so far actually), and about a half dozen more flaws that would cripple my love for any other game. The thing is, even though I noticed these things... I really, really don't care, the game is still far too good. So yes, this game is definately an epic step forward for the medium, just as Bioshock was before it. Go and buy.

The aspect I actually had the most issues with was actually the character creation system. I set out trying to make a cool lookin BA, but no matter how much time I put into it (2+ hours) all I got was some sort of mutant creature, or a creepy looking dude with a molester stache. So frustrated and alone, I accepted the preset model, something that is usually an anathema to me when I am given the option to craft my own character. Sadness.

[BAH R US]

So I went to Toys R Us on Sunday, hoping to make swift use out of that sale I read about (buy 2 wii games, get 1 free) on CAG, but to no avail! I found Umbrella Chronicles, and Zak and Wiki, but no Mario Galaxy! So I motorboated over to the next closest store, only to once again find them marioless. Sadness.

[Zeus]

Hey hey, I'm going to keep this short because I'm heading off to a bar to drink with a friend of mine who's home from the army. And I think I'm just going to stay out until the rest of the gang gets off work at 10 and wants to drink. Weeeeee for alcoholism!

Don't their feet just look silly in this comic? It makes me smile.

[Pacsil]

Hullo, hullo another fantastic Wednesday is done, a even more wonderful Thursday awaits! So a bunch of winter releases hit this week, but no! I refused to purchase them! Even as my co-workers tempted me left and right to rush off during my lunch break to pick up Super Mario Galaxy (wait, is he still super? huh.) I said unto them "Nay, nay co-workers. Verilly Mass Effect doth become released next weeketh. And there will be much rejoithing." Meaning I held back and did not buy a single game since Mass Effect is going to come out soon, and I want to devote my entire persona to its hallowed 1's and 0's.

But thats not to say I haven't been gaming. I got back into a regime of halo 3, finally getting that Major's star (I really don't play it often folks), as well as digging into Castlevanis:SOTN on the live arcade. I purchased it when it was first released, but never really got it started till now. And man, its still a AAA title. I think It deserves a seat right next to Super Mario World, and Super Metroid as one of the three best side-scrollers of all time.

This comic was done with my pen and with MS paint. I will try to use the fancier programs I got with it in the future. So don't worry so much.

[Bamboo]

So I got this graphic tablet thinger called a Bamboo, its made by wacom, apparently the masters of compu-pen technology. I havent gotten over the learning curve completely, but it seems pretty neat. And no, dont worry, all Ninja Ken comics won't suddenly be done on my computer, just when Im feeling slutty I might throw one together using my fun new pen!

So to celebrate my new technology purchase, heres a ninja ken I did using it! (its about poopies!)

... and also a dinosaur!

[Bouncy Upbeat Song]

First off, some of those step and portal trials in portal are really insane. I beat the game just fine, but man, did they make me feel dumb. And thats coming from someone who always says Library, and never Liberry.

And also I am in a good mood because its Friday and life is good! So listen to the guys from MST3K sing The Bouncy Upbeat Song!

Let this comic be a warning to you- Don't get pregnant.

[OZ]

So yes, I forgot to mention. I have munchkin'd, and it is in fact, amaza-zing. At first there was great consternation amongst myself and my friends as we tried to figure out what the hell was going on, but after the initial learning curve we liked it. Oh yes, we did. I would go so far as to say that munchkin is one of the funnest things I've done in a long time that didn't include naked women or alcohol,...and thats about the highest praise I can laud upon anything.

I found this on digg this morning, it is amusing and useful!

*cough*couch potato*cough*

Oh yes, and todays comic is sadly based on my real life, except it was just from a dude.

... and you could tot see his balls.

[Rock Band?]

So today during our lunchbreak some co-workers and I ran over to Best Buy to try out the demo of Rock Band, and I was once again disappointed. Now I tried it over the weekend, and had a terrible experience using the guitar controller. The buttons felt loose and sloppy, the little flipswitch thing you strum with was extremely stiff, and honestly I didn't like the on-screen button things (rectangular instead of circles). Today I let another GH veteran try out the guitar, and she was absolutely stymied, complaining that it was ridiculous to activate the strum dealy, and that she greatly preferred the GH guitar. Meanwhile I was on drums, and well, I really just plain sucked. But again, they seemed cheaply made and weak.... Like the Ukraine.

With my opinion firmly in my mind, and then cemented by another gamer, I saw with great interest that video game blogging site Joystiq did a write up of their impressions with the Rock Band Demo. And after reading it I was extremely surprised, seeing as they made no mention of anything that bothered me. It seems like they either have mighty muscular forearms over there, or had a different guitar? But again, it was just a "preview" if you will, perhaps reviewers will bring up my complaints on the full release.

Besides the guitar, the gameplay seemed standard, there is a little neat mechanic where you can just wail on your shit and go crazy, which was fun, and the music selection seems really well done (unlike GHII). So yeah, thats what I got.

The comic is what I think actually went down before I got my hands on that controller. Odd that it must have happened at both the stores I went to...

[cake]

So I just dropped 40 on comics, ouch baby. Thats what I get for skipping new comics wed since like september. Still haven't played munchkin, much to my chagrin. I did however watch a horror/comedy called Black Sheep, which is about killer sheep. Worth it for some redonkulous parts, although it coulda been better. Its cold in here, I think it may be hoodie time. I also think I may go get myself a bottle of whiskey and huddle in front of my computer and get drunk to sliders.

Just another friday night in paradise.

Oh also, I cannot stop watching this little vid of the Portal End Creds. So uh, don't watch it if you haven't already beaten it. Idiot.

And wow, this comic is way back from 2003. Good thing to see my sense of humor hasnt changed much in 4 years. Farts are hilarious.
